Intro to Digital
Frequently Asked Questions
The Intro to Digital Course is a series of steps. Each step contains tasks that you need to complete.
There are instructions within every step on how to complete that step. If you are still unsure how to complete a step after you begin, you can ask in Slack or one of our workshops.
Those who are eligible for CodeYourFuture
- over 18 years of age
- refugees or asylum seekers
- single parents with low income
- those diagnosed with mental health, learning or physical disabilities
- those who live in a household with total income below the 16k per year (UK) or R350K (South Africa)
- to attend the Full Stack Course, you must live within approximately 1 hours travel by public transport from a CodeYourFuture city
- Or, anyone else experiencing problems getting the education needed to find meaningful work, through discrimination or otherwise. For example - women, minorities, ex-offenders, being homeless, long-term unemployed, etc.
If you are uncertain about your eligibility, we suggest you start the course and email us at contact@codeyourfuture.io. We try to help everyone facing barriers to learning the skills they need to get a good job.
If we reject one of your steps, there will be a comment explaining the reason for the rejection. If you still have a question about how to proceed, ask on Slack or, you can ask in one of our workshops.

You must complete all of the steps listed on the homepage of your Intro to Digital Course in order to be invited to. Grasshopper is the first step.
You must complete all of the steps of the Intro to Digital Course to gain an interview for the Fundamentals Course.
The Intro to Digital course takes between 2 weeks and a month to complete.
If you complete the Intro to Digital course, we will invite you to interview for the 1-month Fundamentals Course. If you succeed in the Fundamentals Course, you may be offered a place in our 8-month Full Stack Course. Check the CodeYourFuture website to see the cut-off date for the Full Stack Course for your region.
The Intro to Digital Course is a separate course from the 8-month Full Stack Course. You need to complete the Intro to Digital Course to get an interview for the Fundamentals Course. You can earn a place on the Full Stack Course if you succeed in the Fundamentals Course.
If you wish apply for the the Full Stack Course, you must complete the Intro to Digital Course before the cut-off date in your region.

It is possible to complete this course in two weeks, but it can take longer, so try to give yourself as much time as possible!
The people who continue working, even when they face challenges, are most likely to complete the course.

We can loan you a laptop or other device to complete the Intro to Digital Course only after you complete the Grasshopper Fundamentals 1 and 2 tutorials.
Once you have finished the Grasshopper Fundamentals 1 and 2 tutorials, you can submit a request for a laptop loan. You can make a request for a laptop loan by emailing contact@codeyourfuture.io.

The 1-month Fundamentals Course is a 1 month preparation course that is between the Intro to Coding Course and the 8-month Full Stack Course.

Interviews are split between technical interviews reviewing the work you completed in ITC, Personal interviews looking at your motivation for the course and an English assessment. More on the interviews here.
